Stated 'First Printing' on copyright page. Printing error with repeat of line 8 on line 10 on page 327.

Octavo, [viii], 371pp. Maroon cloth, title stamped in gold on spine and front cover.

Near fine condition with original 2nd state jacket (lacks 5/57 date code on front flap). Minor closed tears on top and bottom spine of dust jacket that were repaired by previous owner with tape on interior of jacket, but overall excellent condition. Book itself has owner's inscription on front end paper. No other markings or inscriptions. No plates or page creasing. Front book plate has small scratch.

The Town is a novel by the American author William Faulkner, published in 1957, about the fictional Snopes family of Mississippi. It is the second of the "Snopes" trilogy, following The Hamlet (1940) and completed by The Mansion (1959).

Dust jacket is protected by removable mylar cover.
