This is a rare first edition, first printing of the revolutionary work of environmental nonfiction "Silent Spring" by Rachel Carson.

Octavo, 368pp. Green cloth, gilt title on spine and cover. Faded yellow top-stain. Illustrated endpapers 'First Printing' stated on the copyright page.

Includes original dust jacket with an approximately one-inch closed tear on front cover, minor edge wear on spine and folds, and price clipped. Interior is clean with no markings, inscriptions, or creasing. There is some minor soiling on front and bottom text blocks. There is a small, barely visible yellow stain on top of front inside bumper (appears to be from top stain). Binding is strong and square.

Published in 1962 by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, this revolutionary book brought environmentalism to the public conversation and is credited for influencing American public policy on pesticides. It is a great addition to any collection and is rarely seen in this good of condition.
