The Exorcist - William Blatty - First Edition, 1st Printing - 1971

Well preserved first printing of the classic horror novel The Exorcist by William Peter Blatty printed in 1971.

'First Edition' is stated on the copyright page and includes the number line ‘71 72 73 10 9 8 7 6 5 4 2 1’ on the last printed page, both of which indicate this is a true first printing. The dust jacket has the correct 1st state photograph of William Peter Blatty holding a cup in his right hand on the rear panel of the dust jacket. Later editions include a different photograph with no cup.

Original first state dust jacket has chipping and edge wear on spine. Discoloration visible from inside dust jacket consistent with age. Creasing on inside dust jacket flaps. Book itself has a stain on top text block. Interior is clean with no markings or inscriptions. Binding is strong and square.
